Product Description The astonishing, uplifting story of a real-life Indiana Jones and his humanitarian campaign to use education to combat terrorism in the Taliban s backyard Anyone who despairs of the individual s power to change lives has to read the story of Greg Mortenson, a homeless mountaineer who, following a 1993 climb of Pakistan s treacherous K2, was inspired by a chance encounter with impoverished mountain villagers and promised to build them a school. Over the next decade he built fifty-five schools especially for girls that offer a balanced education in one of the most isolated and dangerous regions on earth. As it chronicles Mortenson s quest, which has brought him into conflict with both enraged Islamists and uncomprehending Americans, Three Cups of Tea combines adventure with a celebration of the humanitarian spirit.

Three Cups of Tea October 14, 2008 Valerie Cullers (Klamath Falls, Oregon) This book was about one man who happened upon a village when he was coming down from K-2. It was well written and showed what one person can do who desires to make a difference. It also shows how we must all learn and respect the cultures of other countries and work with the people and not against them. I loved the book and admire the work that Greg Mortenson is atttempting to do.
An Inspiration October 14, 2008 Louis B. Yerger I was deeply moved by Three Cups of Tea and the life of Greg Mortenson. It emphasizes once again what one man can do with a little help from many people. Please read this book for its content and don't be discouraged by those who criticize its literary style. You will be introduced to an Islamic world I never knew existed; a people of love and devotion, passionate about education and especially that of its young women. You will be inspired by what is happening and if you are like me you will feel compelled to contribute to what Mortenson is accomplishing.
Amazing.... October 13, 2008 M. Chmiel (Toronto, ON) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I will only repeat what so many have said before me; this story is simply amazing and most of all, humbling. It reiterates a point made by so many people working in developing countries; education (especially of girls) is the key to eradicating terrorism, combating poverty and spreading peace throughout the volatile regions of the world. It's incredible that one man can initiate so much positive change for some of the world's poorest. Incredible, I have not read something so inspiring since "Banker to the Poor". Simply, fantastic.

This is a one man's journey through very diffucult times. I think there is only one Greg Mortenson . I wish that everyone could read that book and be inspired by him. If one can achieve 10% of what he achieved, the world would be better place by now.I respect him dearly and eternally .If he doesn't go to heaven I don't know who can???
