 An excellent light duty vacuum January 7, 2009

We are glad we bought this. It cleans well, is easy to use and ideal for a quick clean-up, between more comprehensive cleans with our canister vacuum cleaner. The power brush is worth the extra. It is not cordless, but we think it is more powerful than a cordless vacuum could ever be.

So far I really like this little vacuum. It's great for use on my kitchen and hallway floors and basement steps. I just use it for touch ups and in my kitchen instead of a broom. I love the suction! I have an area rug in the kitchen as well as linoleum floors. Emptying the bag is a bit messy, but it's not all that bad. I just put it down in the garbage can and clean it out. After reading the reviews I don't stand it alone because I don't want to take the chance that it will fall and break. I bought extra filters for the sides so I would have them on hand when needed. I don't use it for cleaning the whole house because that's not what it is made for. It's so nice to be able to store it with my broom and mop and to have it handy so I don't always have to lug out the big vacuum. I haven't had any problems with it over-heating and shutting off, and the cord is plenty long.

I researched through Consumer Reports and researched the Hoover site for information regarding service before I purchased it. I used it twice and the power head for rugs stopped working. Had used it on about 5 throw rugs as have hardwood floors. It was too late to return it to Amazon as after using it without a problemn I recycled the packing, Took it to the local dealer shown at the Hoover web site who said he didn't do Hoover Warranty work. I called the Hoover toll free number and was given the closest repair place over 200 miles away. Finally on the NON-toll free number talked to a person who gave me a site 60 miles away so that would be 240 miles in round trips. Told Hoover it was unacceptable and I wanted a replacement. Said they couldn't do that, after I told them I would write a review about such a nightmare was told I was being switched to corporate, after spending 7 minutes on "hold" on my nickle, I hung up. Unless you are SURE that there is warranty service nearby I would steer clear of said purchase. Personally I will never purchase a Hoover product again.
Handy device: right for the job January 6, 2009

I was looking for the right tool to pick up the animal hair and usual "shoe dirt" on my hardwood floor. This item is terrific. gets under and around furniture, has optional of power brushing for area rugs, strong suction to draw dust and hair out of corners and cracks. Easy to clean, easy to store. Great purchase.
