Album Description The Poison' is an album rooted in classic British metal, with brutal riffs and colossal, pounding drums all lovingly and respectfully thrown into the mix along with the band's own blend of powerhouse aggression and youthful anarchy and energy. With `The Poison', Bullet for my Valentine are set to firmly establish themselves as the front runners of UK Metal, and give all the US bands a run for their money. From the stunning opening introduction track, guest staring classical metal titans Apocalyptica, the million miles an hour heavy as hell `Her Voice Resides', the acoustic metal classic in the making `All these things I hate (revolve around me)', through to the top anthem `4 Words (To choke upon)', this is a debut album to savour in all its epic, metal glory. Working once again with uber producer Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Cradle of Filth), the album successfully manages to capture the blinding raw energy and power of a band with the world at its feet, a band about to explode! In the last year, Bullet for my Valentine have toured with Atreyu, It Dies Today, Funeral For A Friend, and just finished their headlining "Kerrang Tour" with special guests Hawthorne Heights.
Album Description Produced and mixed by the equally legendary Andy Sneap (Arch Enemy, Skinlab, Testament, Earth Crisis, Napalm Death). The band has already notched up nearly 30,000 sales of their debut mini album as well as a top 40 hit with '4 Words'. The album features 13 tracks of epic riffage surrounded in a defiantly current metallic miasma in addition to this we have a fantastically intimate enhanced section with backstage footage of the band. Pretty Good December 16, 2008 Ana The CD was pretty good, it have a nice intro and ending. After a while the scream-vocals get mellow but it is a pretty nice CD over all. They just need to have a little more variety.
Very Pleased! November 6, 2008 Ang (Ft. Liquordale, FLorida) i find reviews very helpful when buying music, even though we all have our own taste...Anyways, i decided to buy this album, as i have no other BFMV albums, after hearing some of the songs on it and i absolutely love it! I am a "newer metal" music person, and this album fits that category for me, but still has the older metal influence. What an amazing band, and you will definately be please after getting this album! Every song on it is good! That makes a person happy when you buy an album and every song is good, how often does that happen? Well, there is maybe the slow one i don't care too much for, but every metal band has a ballad...Anyways, buy it, if you like this band!!! It is well worth it!!

Bullet For My Valentine-The Poison **** What is so great about Bullet For My Valentine is how refreshing their sound is. Combining Thrash with screamo, with hardcore, and punk feel, with classic metal to create a sound just this side of Slayer. But Bullet For My Valentine is different than their contemporaries like Atreyu and say Avenged Sevenfold because they are not altering their sound for the radio this just comes natural for them and they make their metal melodic enough to get air play with out compromise. Where we have heard a resurgence of the guitar solo as of late, Bullet is the only band doing it any justice. Combing both speed with technique, and style and feel with melodic lines to build a structure rather than a bunch of fast notes played in a few short seconds. Tracks like the angry '4 Words' and the radio friendly 'Tears Don't Fall' create contrast while 'Suffocating Under Words Of Sorrow' and 'All These Things I Hate' take on a life of their own. 'Cries In Vain' show that their are still great lyrics in metal. Bullet For My Valentine is doing it right, and The Poison is their strongest testament to that.
Duuuude!! This is Awesome!! October 21, 2008 John Minor (Clermont, FL USA) This album is what my old friend Barney would call "SUPER-DEE-DUPER". But seriously, it's really great metal that's hard for other bands to try to mimic. One of my favorite albums to date with my favorites being: All These Things I Hate, Tears Don't Fall, 4 Words, Room 409, and The Poison. Every metal lover needs to pick this one up for sure.
Not bad July 28, 2008 Michelle Bradley (Raleigh, NC USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this after having only heard one song. It wasn't as good as I had hoped but it rocks pretty hard.
